Sankar Roy – Ⅱ

Resigning for the Good Cause

Say it – you’re done. You delivered what you could deliver.

It is okay

that you couldn’t. Now you want to be that cow

that

puts a bunch of fresh-cut chrysanthemum into its mouth  relish.

It is alright

if that cow does not return as Buddha in another life.

When

that great stupa was built, you were not there.

Now

if ferns and vines want to reclaim what was taken from them once,

don’t try

to stop them. You did not cause the tropicanas to bleed

or

emperors convert into oracles.

It is you

who always smells like iron in an iron factory.

This

dusty closet, these grubby clothes,

is you.

You deserve a good meal and some sleep.
