The Pear Tree 

 

 

 

 

that, for years, flowered

has fallen

home to the borers,

 

their greed

for not only the fruit,

but the flesh of the tree.

 

Hard to say

what we look like to them,

worming our way through these rooms,

 

our hungers fatal, too.
