Dream
After Ishihara Yoshiro (1915 – 1977) A Japanese poet who spent nine years from 1945 through 1953 in the labor camps of Siberia.
My mother went missing years ago I wish
I could see her even in a dream and I dream of her on such a night
We are on the futon laid out on sands in a battlefield
of the Middle East
My mother is on top of the blanket with me hiding underneath
We want to survive the bombs, explosions and strange smells
A soldier approaches and wants to know what’s under the blanket
He demands to peel it off
I hold on to it trembling
The soldier kicks me with the toe of his boots
The blanket rips
Exposed, I want to shout, ‘Okaasan, Help me!’ but I have no voice
and to my surprise she walks away from me as if sliding I
keep trying to scream to pull her back but no voice emerges
and I wake myself up with a screech, ‘Uwuuu!’ drenched in sweat
I give out a sigh of relief and from the back of my head
the voice of the battle field echoes Frau Come
My mother was taken away I’d go into anybody’s dream
I would like to see her again

母が行方不明になってから もう何年が過ぎるのだろ

しかし 一人の兵士が近づいて来て毛布の中身は何か
毛布を剥がせと言っている わたしは必死で身を守ろう
